Real people. Jewellery with a story.

Two commissions from our sister business show how a personal idea can become a considered design.

01 · A family in three stones

Gary & Yvonne’s birthstone ring.

To celebrate the birth of their first child, Gary commissioned a ring bringing three family birthstones together: a central moonstone, with a ruby and an emerald representing the parents.

The design was worked through in computer visualisations before a claw setting was chosen for the moonstone. The finished ring was made in 9ct white gold and completed with a personal inscription.

A small, meaningful brief became a piece with a story only this family could tell.

02 · Shared ideas, personal details

Kevin & Owen’s wedding rings.

Kevin and Owen wanted substantial rose-gold bands with clean lines and a subtle sparkle. Trying silver samples helped them choose the width, depth and profile that felt right on their hands.

Computer designs and resin prototypes refined the idea before the rings were cast. A bridge beneath each diamond provided practical support while preserving the open appearance they liked.

The original pair shown here had a yellow diamond and a white diamond. Kevin later changed his stone to a white emerald-cut diamond to match Owen’s.

A personal starting point

Bring the things that inspire you.

A sketch, a photograph or a detail you love can be enough to open the conversation.

A ring with meaning

An engagement ring, a wedding band or a ring to mark a milestone. Consider the person who will wear it, their style and the details that would make it personal.

A piece for a moment

A pendant, earrings or another piece connected to a celebration or memory. Tell us what the occasion means and how you imagine the jewellery being worn.

An idea to explore

You may know a colour, a shape or a feeling rather than a finished design. Share your references so the team can help clarify what matters most.

From an idea to a clear brief

Make the conversation your own.

Start with the story, then the practical details. Knowing what you love, what you would like to spend and when you need the piece makes it easier to explore a realistic direction.

A bespoke conversation should help you understand the choices involved. Ask about the design, materials, proportions and how the finished piece will work in everyday life.

  • 1. Share your inspirationBring a few references and explain what you like about each. It might be the overall shape, a setting, the colour of a stone or a small decorative detail.
  • 2. Talk about the wearerWhich pieces do they already enjoy? Will this be worn every day or for occasions? Comfort and practical use are part of the design brief.
  • 3. Set out your budget and timingA comfortable budget and any important date help frame the options. Mention these early so that the possibilities can be discussed openly.
  • 4. Clarify the next stepsBefore proceeding, ask how the design will be presented, what you will approve, and when the cost and timescale will be confirmed.

Confidence in the details

Know what you are commissioning.

The right questions help turn an exciting idea into a clear, considered decision.

Design & materials

Confirm the design details, metal, stone specifications and any relevant reports. Ask how proportions and sizing will be agreed before the piece is made.

Price & approval

Ask for a clear written quote and an explanation of what it covers, any deposit or payment stages, and how design changes would affect the cost.

Timing & aftercare

Confirm the expected timescale and any deadline before committing. Ask about collection or delivery, care, sizing and the terms that apply to a commissioned piece.

Every brief is different. Feasibility, the design process and the final arrangements need to be confirmed with the team for your particular commission.

Brighton roots. A considered price.

Experience you can sit down with.

Anthony Edwards’ Brighton jewellery story began with Scorpio in 1976. Wedding Rings Direct followed in 2000, growing from New England House without the cost of a high-street shop.

Our move to Ship Street in 2023 brought that experience into the heart of Brighton. Competitive prices and personal guidance remain central to the way we work.

A little more clarity

Your questions, answered.

Do I need a finished design?

No. A few reference images, a rough sketch or an idea you can describe will help start the discussion. Explain which details you like and what the piece means to you.

Can I bring an existing piece or a loose stone?

You can bring it to discuss. The team will need to assess the item and your idea before confirming whether it could be used, what work may be appropriate and any associated limitations or risks.

Is bespoke only for engagement rings?

Your idea may be a ring or another type of jewellery. Contact the team with a brief description so they can discuss whether it is something they can help you explore.

How much does a bespoke piece cost?

The price depends on the design, materials, stones and work involved. Share your budget early and ask for a written quote for the agreed brief before making a commitment.

How long does it take?

There is no single timescale that applies to every design. Tell us any important date at the start, and confirm the schedule for your particular piece before proceeding.
